  James Heddon came upon the idea for his lures by accident when he threw a block of wood into a pond and it was struck by a fish.  He soon patented and commercially produces the first "floating" fishing lures and was the largest producer of glass eye wooden lures.  His feature product line was the "Heddon Dowagiac", which is one of the most collected items in antique fishing lures.  Heddon went on to build an empire as the leading lure producer in the early to mid 1900's.

  Heddon fishing lures are especially sought after because they were cutting edge for their times, and still land big catches even by modern standards.  Heddon lures were the Rapala of the antique fishing lures and should be a staple in any collection.
